We made it

We’re in Auckland! We started off the trip with a mellow evening. Lamb kebobs for dinner with rice, salad, hummus, “chips” (fries), and felafel. We’re staying in a hostel on Fort St. tonight, which seems to be backpacker central, and we’ll be picking up the campervan tomorrow.

We walked through Auckland, mainly along Viaduct Harbour.

And we saw lots of cool things…

There were a few things we noticed that our nephews Ian and Jonah would love…

  1. Lots of boats!
  2. A bridge that lifts up to a 90 degree angle every time the boats are leaving or entering the harbour (and the mechanics sound like an opera warming up while the bridge lifts).
  3. A really neat playground that looked like this…

We completed the evening watching the sunset and then walked “home.”
