Wellington

We’re in the land of the Millers (that’s Casey and Shane Miller).  We only had about a day and a half to explore Wellington, but it is a very nice city that is very, very windy.  We of course got some hikes in around the outskirts of the city.  Would we have any other way?? This first hike was one of my favorite.  Gorgeous coastal views, you could see the South Island, and you got to walk through wind turbines, and you also got to see an old military base with these giant guns.

Really cool rock at the beginning of the hike

The view.

Wind turbine

WW2 military base, now defaced.

Walking through the driftwood on the beach.

Another cool rock

We did another hike on the outskirts that was supposed to be the hike in Wellington, but we felt kind of “meh” about it.  I mean, it was nice, don’t get me wrong.  But not in comparison to the above!

Walking!

Quite a climb, let’s take the easy route

Nice view.

We drove to the top of Mount Victoria, which is right by the city, and you can get a great view of downtown Wellington.

City centre

But it was very, very windy.

We went to the Botanical Gardens, Weta workshop, practiced drinking beer, and walked through the city.  Here are some highlights:

Smooch!

You leave my husband be!

White flat at the Botanical Gardens-that’s mine!

Pretty!

Just in case there was any confusion, here’s the going rate.
