Sunrise walk in Auckland
We started our day at 5:30 a.m. so we could walk through the city during sunrise. There’s something about waking up before the sun that makes me feel so accomplished. We put in a 6+ mile city walk/hike to Mount Eden.
We made our way through Albert Park and some side streets, and we got a bit turned around at times (it’s our first day, we’re learning!) But we made the trek up to the top of Mount Eden where we were rewarded with an incredible panoramic view of the city.
There’s a crater in the middle that is pretty amazing, and it has warning signs telling you not to walk down into it. Well, apparently some sneaky little devil didn’t oblige because there’s a nice, little stone-shaped heart at the very bottom.
This cool sign was at the top of Mount Eden…
On our way back, we walked through Domain Park. There’s a cricket field right in the middle, and it brought me back to a time in my youth when I think I tried playing crick once. I’m pretty sure of it.
We took “Lover’s Walk” trail back into the city. The trail seemed as though it was in a completely different country rather than the same city of Auckland. It had a rainforest feel and was quite remote.
We like it here.
